I’ve spent more than 30 years behind the camera as a news photojournalist, telling stories through photographs and learning to recognize the moments that are worth capturing. While my career has focused on news and documentary photography, some of my favorite photographs happen away from the assignment—when I’m traveling, exploring a new place, or simply come across something that makes me stop and look. My photography takes me from the mountains and wilderness of Alaska to the streets and landscapes of Japan, and to the unexpected places and everyday moments in between. I’m drawn to photographs that tell a story, capture a sense of place, or simply make you feel something.
